We all know that magnets are used in speaker speakers. Some friends will remove the magnets when they are young. You can find that the magnets inside are black. This is a ferrite magnet, that is, a general magnet. However, with the development of the market, more and more speaker equipment will use NdFeB magnets to replace traditional speaker magnets.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of NdFeB horn magnets today?

We first need to understand what a speaker magnet is. In fact, a speaker magnet is also called a speaker magnet or a speaker magnet, and it is generally used as an important part of the speaker.

What types of speaker magnets are there?

There are three types of magnetic materials in speaker magnets: Alnico magnets, ferrite magnets, and NdFeB magnets. Each material has a different effect on the tonal characteristics of a speaker.

1. Alnico magnets are the original magnet material used in loudspeakers to produce classic tones. Such speakers sound warmer and sweeter at lower volumes, and many musicians feel they respond more quickly to the player's touch. The disadvantages are low power, narrow frequency range, hard and brittle, and very inconvenient processing. In addition, cobalt is a scarce resource, and the price of alnico is relatively high. In terms of comprehensive performance-to-price ratio, the use of alnico for speaker magnets is relatively small.

2. Ferrite magnets were developed as an inexpensive alternative to AlNiCo.

Ferrite magnets are generally made into external magnetic horns. The magnetic force of ferrite material is very low, and it needs a certain volume to achieve the driving force of the speaker. As such, it is often used in louder audio speakers. The advantage of ferrite is that it is cheap and cost-effective; the disadvantage is that it is large in size, low in power, and narrow in frequency range.

3. The last material is the NdFeB magnet we will focus on today. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of NdFeB horn magnets?

Advantages: high magnetic performance, small size, lighter weight than other speakers, wide frequency range. It has excellent sound quality, good elasticity, good details, good voice quality and accurate sound field positioning. In terms of price, they fall between alnico and ferrite magnet speakers. Mostly used in high-end speakers.

Disadvantages: The disadvantages are sintered molding, expensive, strong magnetism, easy to oxidize, slightly insufficient bass, and high temperature will cause irreversible magnetic loss.

Several factors need to be paid attention to when choosing a horn magnet

It is necessary to clarify the ambient temperature of the speaker, and decide which magnetic material to use according to the temperature. Different types of permanent magnets have different temperature resistance characteristics, and the maximum working temperature they can withstand is different. When the working temperature of the magnet exceeds the maximum working temperature, magnetic energy attenuation and demagnetization may occur, which will directly affect the sound effect of the speaker.

When selecting a speaker magnet, the magnetic flux requirement and magnet volume must be considered. Horn magnets are not as loud as possible. It can be seen from the influence of the magnet performance on the sound quality of the speaker that the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet has a great influence on the sound quality of the sound system. We need to consider the limitation of the volume of the speaker on the volume of the magnet and the requirement on the flux performance of the permanent magnet.

What are the general shapes of speaker magnets?

Round magnets, the round magnets in the speaker magnets are generally used as a supporting magnet for the rear magnet and the magnetic ring.

Ring magnets, much larger speaker magnets are magnetic rings.
