what is fob?

1. CCmagnetics Customs Declaration Modes Overview

We offer two distinct customs declaration models depending on your order value and corporate tax or financial requirements:

  • Sample Mode (Informal Customs Declaration):
This option is designed for individual users or for shipping sample orders. It eliminates the need for cumbersome financial and tax reconciliation processes—a method we have consistently utilized for our shipments in the past.

    • Applicability: This method applies exclusively to parcels with a declared total value of less than approximately €700 (¥5,000 RMB).
    • Important Note: If a parcel's value exceeds this limit, it may be temporarily detained by customs, and customs authorities will require the consignee to pay the applicable import duties.
  • FOB Mode (Formal Customs Declaration):
This customs declaration model is fully compliant with the law. It is highly suitable for enterprises with strict requirements regarding financial and tax management.

    • Requirements: You are required to provide your own DHL account number, and we will handle the shipment on your behalf through formal customs declaration and clearance procedures. Shipping costs are borne by you.
    • Fee: Under this formal customs declaration mode, we will charge a packaging fee of €129 (charged per shipment).

2. Why Formal Customs Declaration is Recommended for Cargo Over ¥5,000 RMB

Informal customs declaration (Sample Mode) is strictly restricted by regulations to parcels valued under ¥5,000 RMB (~€700).

If your cargo's total value exceeds this threshold, attempting an informal declaration carries a high risk of the package being temporarily detained by customs. In such cases, customs authorities will halt delivery and require the consignee to pay the applicable import duties and complete formal clearance.

Therefore, to avoid customs delays, ensure full legal compliance, and meet strict corporate financial and tax management requirements, we strongly recommend utilizing the FOB Mode (Formal Customs Declaration) for all orders exceeding ¥5,000 RMB.

3. Why a €129($150) Packaging Fee is Charged under Formal Declaration

For shipments processed under the FOB Mode (Formal Customs Declaration), a €129 packaging fee is applied per shipment. This fee covers the specialized compliance handling and packaging required under formal customs declaration procedures.
